Mission Statement

Our mission is to deliver practical and sustainable business solutions to our clients, thereby enhancing their operational performance, compliance and profit margins.

Zanathi Consulting (Zanathi) is a business consulting and advisory company, founded in January 2020 by Zanele Mandlake, as a dynamic accounting, risk advisory and tax practice based on skill and expertise gathered through commitment, hard work and service excellence across various sectors.

We seek to provide tailor-made and solution driven services to a wide range of clients of all sizes, from private sector organisations to government bodies and parastatals; medium-sized companies to small intelligent start-ups; financial services to healthcare – and everything in between.

Our expertise in the accounting, risk advisory and tax fields bring to the table a well-rounded and extensive experience to improve our clients’ business performance and achievement of strategic objectives. Our services are based on values that seek to enhance our client’s resilience and business excellence by delivering practical and sustainable business solutions. In the process of consulting with our clients, we nurture the relationships by embracing dialogue, learning, mentorship and coaching to achieve their strategic objectives.

We walk the journey with our clients by developing, implementing and monitoring effective and results-based solutions with them. As a consequence, our clients can have the confidence that the solutions we provide are suitable and efficiently implemented to ensure value for money on the fees that we charge.

Everything we do is underpinned by integrity, respect and teamwork. We endeavour to have a business thrives because of our values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Resilience (“TRIER”):

Teamwork

At Zanathi we believe that it is not just our definition of teamwork that counts, but rather how, as a team of independent professionals together with our clients, define teamwork. This that can make all the difference between a definition that works, and one that is irrelevant. This is because when we define teamwork together, it is more likely to become a shared definition, and one that encourages commitment.

We acknowledge that authentic teamwork tends to see positive attitudes and behaviours such as:

  • Trusting each other to deliver what we promise
  • Active listening
  • Consensus building
  • Open communication
  • Co-operation and blending of each other’s strengths

We walk the journey with our clients by developing, implementing and monitoring effective and results-based solutions with them. As a consequence, our clients can have the confidence that the solutions we provide are suitable and efficiently implemented to ensure value for money on the fees that we charge.

Respect

We believe that respect is key to service excellence. All those we interact with are treated equally regardless of race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, family responsibility, ethnic, or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, HIV status, conscience, belief, political opinion, culture, language, birth or on any other arbitrary ground.

Embracing diversity is important, as it increases the talent pool and brings new ideas, perspectives and skills to organisation.

Respect comes in many forms. We see the following as acceptable behaviours in demonstrating the value of respect:

  • Making diversity and inclusion a priority.
  • Treating others with politeness and courtesy and not insulting others or talking behind their backs.
  • Encouraging all colleagues, where necessary, to share their ideas and/or participating in meetings, lunches and after work activities.
  • Actively listening to others and not interrupting them before they finish sharing their ideas.
  • Not micromanaging, unfairly criticizing or demeaning others.

Integrity

It is not easy to adequately describe integrity, yet it is another fundamental value that all stakeholders immediately recognize when they see it in how we behave. Integrity encompasses honesty, dependability, morals and ethics. To us it means being thoughtful of others, and always doing the right thing, even in difficult circumstances.

We believe that integrity is demonstrated in large ways and in small daily activities and practices, as follows.

  • Build confidence through clear and adequate communication with all relevant stakeholders so that they feel included rather than being blindsided.
  • Respecting all stakeholders.
  • Taking responsibility, owning up to our mistakes and rectifying these in a timely fashion.
  • Keeping our promises because we understand that making them is easy and the important part is keeping them.
  • Living by set rules and regulations and having the courage to stand up for what is right.

We walk the journey with our clients by developing, implementing and monitoring effective and results-based solutions with them. As a consequence, our clients can have the confidence that the solutions we provide are suitable and efficiently implemented to ensure value for money on the fees that we charge.

Excellence

We believe that service is the extent to which our service meets the client’s needs and expectations. Excellent service is when the above experiences are surpassed and when client feel that they have received that little unexpected extra in the shape of extra effort. Sometimes that little unexpected extra can come in different shapes and forms such as a smile, a positive remark, or the additional effort by our firm going the extra mile. We acknowledge that service excellence is not just about exceeding the expectations of our client but primarily about delivering what we promised and dealing well with any problems and queries that arise.

We keep on top of this by:

  • Offering proactive, knowledgeable and skilled professionals who deliver efficient services
  • Continuously developing skills and capabilities by undertaking training and development regularly.
  • Always looking  for ways to making our client’s processes and services simpler and cost effective.
  • Anticipating client needs by listening attentively and asking questions to make sure the client gets getting everything they need.

Resilience

We acknowledge our resilience as the ability to recover from setbacks, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity / challenges. We have strong resources and skills to manage conflict coupled with a good support network.

Our belief is that resilience is more than our ability to cope, but also means that we are flexible, adapt to new and different situations, learn from experience, are optimistic and ask for help where necessary.

We accomplish and maintain this by:

  • Reframing setbacks as opportunities for growth.
  • Cultivating a growth mindset by being open to learning /change and having a positive outlook of the future.
  • Accepting that some aspect of business / life are not always immediately controllable by us, therefore expend our focus and effort on what we can control.
  • Not viewing setbacks as permanent, by acknowledging them as such while maintaining flexibility and moving on.
